Busy weekend. & Back from the beach.

AWESOME. Just got back from shooting a short documentary in South Padre Island, It was a great experience!! my good friend Luis and Carlos Pruneda made the trip possible. Both of them agreed to help out with the road trip. Luis had some exciting stories, that made the trip a memorable one. We finally finished shooting around 12p on friday and headed back to Laredo, in time to witness the marriage of my first ever best friend Mr. Efren Martinez. Here are some of the pics of Efren's wedding.

I will post some pics of the SPI trip when I get a chance. Anyways the weekend was not over by any means. I was hired to take some pics and video at Embassy Suites here in LAredo, TX on Sunday the 28th of Sept. It was something new to me. I had never shot pictures for a 50th Birthday Party. Anyways I was able to finish shooting all the pics and video by 9:30pm and finally headed home. That's when reality hit. HOMEWORK> KIDS> AND MY WIFE> wait a minute FANTASY FOOTBALL!! = STRESS.get it? Well there is something I learned a few years ago. You will accomplish more when you worry about things you can actually fix, dont worry about the problems that can't be changed by you. hmm!!! that doesn't even make sense....., Neways, I managed to finished some of my homework, including my kids homework, and hopefully ill get to do some editing by end of the week.

short film update. "the journey" with Artist Luis Pruneda will be posted later on this week. Its coming out awesome!! Cinematography at its very finest!!

Thought of the day.

Torture!!! I worked all day long. No kidding. I just got home and now i have to finish up my homework. MADNESS!!!. Anyways I did learn something new today. Better yet I discovered something I already knew. Well I had a long conversation with a friend and we spoke about how you should never compromise your creative nature just to fit in or get ahead. As an artist, it is sometimes easier to follow techniques that have already been proven...BUT.. anybody can learn techniques. I mean anybody. for example., In film anyone can learn how to act, shoot (use a camera), make props, light a set, etc....but is it fair to myself to reach out and grab someone else's ideas and create a movie with it, just because I know the techniques to do it? QUESTION!!My creative nature will drive me towards shooting a movie that comes from within me, something biographical, something that I fully understand! If a painter wants to be the next Picasso he has to learn the basic techniques and then create his own identity on his canvas. If he doesn't follow his creative ingenuity he will forever be someone that only knows technique. THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Don't just do., see yourself in what you do.

Weekend Warrior.

I forgot to mention that I worked on a short film with Luis Pruneda on Friday. It was totally unexpected but was worth the while. Luis asked me to be the DP (Director of Photography) and I ofcourse said YEAH!!!. Anyways, the footage turned out great, we did not finish till about 1am.. Luis stayed up looking over the shots till about 4 or 5am. I know, what a loser!! jK. but yeah, I will post up the video as soon as Luis gets it to me. Hopefully by the end of the week. That luis is in the painting. He is a graphic artist and fellow low-budget film maker. Peace

PIC of the Day!!

Wow!!! Great Photographer and entrepreneur. Go check out his website, www.beckersblog.com. I was truly amazed when I first saw his photography. Every now and then I'll go check out his new pics. This picture is truly priceless. I will be better than him one day. A little bit sooner than later.

Short Film update.

Great Progress. Most of the short was filmed today. We started at around 8pm and stopped around 12:30. It seems like we have mostly all our shots down. I didnt get a chance to look over the shots but I seem pretty confident they came out pretty darn good!!. Anyways, the movie only has two characters, one of them is played by Scott Johnson and the other by Ray Garcia. They were both real good and easy to work with. We will continue to shoot next saturday and probably done with production. I will post a trailer of the movie as soon as Abel gets done with it. Make sure to check back.

XVera. Georgette Galvan. & Fantasy Football

The NFL Season just kicked off and I have spent the last couple of days hooked on getting my fantasy team ready. This is my first year playing fantasy football. hopefully my last!!! I have not been able to concentrate in school nor work. If you're not into fantasy games, dont get into it. trust me. Anyways, I did do something constructive this weekend. I was actually hired to shoot a XVera. My good friend shot the pics and I did the video. It was an awesome experience. The Quinceanera was awesome. She was very outgoing and loved to be in front of the camera. Check these pics out!

NEW PROJECT

Today I woke up a bit late, like always and finally got myself to work. I was a little worried since I was overloaded with deadlines from both work and school assignments. Thankfully, we have wikipedia. awesome. I was able to do most of my research for my assignments within my one hour lunch break. Anyways the day went pretty smooth at work. My brain ran into a couple of new ideas that I have jotted down into my famous little notebook. After school around 6p,  I really felt excited about finally getting home and getting back to what i love to do. learning. I have this weird habit of making sure  I learn something new each day. I bring it my own attention as I fall asleep each night. Well anyways, as got to my house I got a call from my dear friend (Abel Alvarado) He spoke to me about a new project he is working on. Its a short called "a thrill for a hunt". EXCITING!! This short will be shot within the next two or three weeks in Laredo, TX. I will be helping out Abel with camera work and maybe some lighting. Hopefully all goes well. Well I finally got myself off the phone and decided to drive to Abel's workplace and pick up a copy of the script. By this time the daylight was almost completely gone. So I decided to call it a day and just focus on the script. The script is great!! It should be fun to shoot. We are looking for a couple of assistants that are willing to help out for one complete weekend (without pay ofcourse). For anybody that is interested in moving making or just wants to be part of cool project, this is the perfect opportunity. I will make sure you learn as much possible. If interested please email me or comment on this blog. By the way, I did learn something new today.::COGNITIVE DISSONANCE+ Its a communication phenomena. look it up on youtube.

NEW IDEAS

EVERY DAY AROUND 5 OR 6PM, I START GETTING REALLY TIRED AND SLEEPY. I'VE NOTICED THAT WHEN I FIGHT MY SLEEP, I ENTER A NEW WORLD IN MY BRAIN. I CAN NOT EXPLAIN WHAT THE FEELING REALLY IS, BUT I HAVE NOTICED THAT I COME UP WITH THE GREATEST IDEAS. ANYWAYS, I HAVE BEEN WRITING DOWN ALL MY IDEAS INTO A NOTEBOOK THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY MY GOOD FRIEND AND FELOW ARTIST LUIS PRUNEDA. THESE IDEAS ARE MOSTLY ABOUT THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY BUT SOME RANGE IN VARIOUS WAYS. IAM A COMMUNICATION GEEK AND I HOPE TO ALSO SHARE MY THOUGHTS ON COMMUNICATION PHENOMENA'S... I WILL BE POSTING NEW PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF WHAT I COME UP WITH. CHECK THEM OUT AND MAKE SURE YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK AND HOW YOU WOULD CHANGE IT FOR THE BETTER!!
